Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how SkinBestie uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. This website and this policy are owned and operated by Gentle Human Ltd, trading as SkinBestie (“SkinBestie”, “we”, “us” or “our”). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more generally how we handle your personal data.
We have deliberately built our website to be privacy-friendly. We use cookieless analytics, which means we do not set cookies to track you or to advertise to you. A small number of essential cookies may be set by the trusted third-party services we use for booking, payment and our newsletter sign-up. This policy explains what those are and why.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device to help the site work, or to remember certain information about your visit. Cookies can be “session” cookies, which last only while you are using the website and are deleted when you close your browser, or “persistent” cookies, which stay on your device for a set period or until you delete them.
The most relevant distinction for our website is between essential cookies — necessary for core features such as secure booking and payment to work — and non-essential cookies, such as analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. As explained below, we do not use non-essential cookies.
Do we use cookies?
We keep our use of cookies to a minimum.
- Analytics: We use Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to understand how our website is used — for example, which pages are visited. Plausible is cookieless: it sets no cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across other websites.
- Advertising and tracking: We do not use any advertising, marketing or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Essential third-party cookies: Some features of our website are provided through embedded third-party services: Calendly (scheduling) and Stripe (payment) for booking, and Flodesk for our newsletter sign-up form. These services may set their own functional cookies on your device to keep those features secure and working correctly — for example, to maintain your session and to help prevent spam and fraud. They are set only in connection with the feature you are using and are necessary for it to work. They are not used by us, or by these providers on our behalf, for advertising or cross-site tracking. Because these cookies are set directly by the providers rather than by us, they are governed by the providers’ own cookie notices: Calendly, Stripe and Flodesk.
Why we don’t show a cookie banner
Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), a website must obtain your consent before setting non-essential cookies, but no consent is required for cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for. Because we do not set analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and the only cookies involved are the essential ones needed to make booking, payment and newsletter sign-up work, we do not display a cookie consent banner. If this changes in future and we introduce non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
Managing cookies
Most web browsers accept cookies by default. You can change your browser settings to restrict, block or delete cookies — the Help function within your browser explains how. Please note that blocking essential cookies may stop parts of our website, in particular the booking and payment step, from working properly. For more general information about cookies and how to manage them, see https://allaboutcookies.org/.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use, or for other legal or operational reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page, so please check back periodically.
